IP - Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, has stated that Israel crossed an "Iranian red line" by attacking a diplomatic mission, which is considered de-facto Iranian soil. The world is now waiting to see how Iran will respond following Israel's strike on Iran's embassy compound in Syria.

"The nature of this Iranian response is going to be very important," Bolton said during an interview with NewsNation's "On Balance" on Friday. He emphasized that while Israel may have crossed a red line, Iran has a history of doing the same.

The looming question remains: if Iran directly attacks Israel, what will the U.S. do? Bolton believes that the U.S. would intervene to protect Israel in the event of a direct attack.

The Israeli regime launched an attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus on Monday evening, destroying the building and casualties among those inside. Seven military advisors from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were martyred as a result of the attack.

In response to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stated that Iran reserves its right to take countermeasures and will decide on an appropriate response and punishment for the aggressor.

The IRGC also issued a statement emphasizing that they will retaliate against the Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of several Iranian advisors.105
