Nigeria (IP) - The Nigerian Defense Headquarters has confirmed the killing of 22 soldiers including Colonel Alari, Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army Battalion 149 in an ambush attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State, North East of the country on Sunday.

This recent blow to the Nigerian military by Boko Haram and ISIS affiliate terrorist group in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists occurred less than two weeks after a similar incident took place when some terrorists invaded a military base in the Sabon Gari community of Damboa local government area in Borno state, killing several soldiers including officers and many volunteer fighters.

In a Press Statement, The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy in Nigeria Bayo Onanuga, said: "Lieutenant Colonel TE Alari, the Commanding Officer of the Battalion 149 was leading his troops during an operation in the Timbuktu Triangle a notorious hotspot for terrorist activity in the North East of Damboa in Yobe State when they came under attack by Boko Haram insurgents.
