Taftan (IP) - In a terrorist attack by armed assailants in the Goharkuh area of Taftan County, in Sistan and Baluchistan province, southeastern Iran, 10 police officers were killed who were on Law Enforcement Command patrol.

Iran Press/Iran news: A well-informed source reported to Iranian media that the attack on the patrol occurred in the mountainous Goharkuh region of Taftan. Moments earlier, gunmen ambushed the Law Enforcement Command unit, resulting in casualties among both soldiers and police officers.

The Sistan and Baluchestan Police also confirmed the incident to the media, noting that armed assailants had clashed with a police patrol in Goharkuh. 

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Interior Minister Orders Investigation into Terrorist Attack

Following this tragic incident, the Minister of the Interior instructed a team of police commanders and ministry officials to promptly investigate the attack and report the findings to the public.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the attack resulted in the deaths of 10 members of the Law Enforcement Command, including soldiers and officers.
