The maximum temperature in New Delhi nearly reached 50 degrees Celsius, marking a significant departure of 9 degrees from the normal range.

Iran Press/Asia: Several areas in New Delhi on Tuesday recorded extreme temperatures with the mercury touching 50 degrees Celsius as a heatwave swept across North India, according to the weather department. Two locations in the city recorded the highest-ever temperature level.

The maximum temperature in the national capital was recorded at Mungeshpur and Narela, with the mercury touching 49.9 degrees Celsius, which was 9 degrees above normal. Najafgarh also recorded 49.8 degrees.
