Iran Press/Iran News: In an interview with Iran Press on Saturday and on the sidelines of the parliament open session, Allahyar Malekshahi said: "Assassinating a state official of one country in another country without any guards, in a military operation is undoubtedly is a terrorist act, and the US president and its administration are considered as terrorists."
"Since the assassination has been conducted in a country other than the operator country, it is considered as an act of aggression in the international law," Malekshahi added.
He explained that the US assassination of Lieutenant Gen Soleimani is a crime according to international law, as it is against Article 2 of Clause 5 of the Amendment of the International Criminal Court Charter, a court established to address the war crimes of countries' leaders.
Stressing that all national and international legal associations must pursue the case, the head of the parliament's Legal and Judicial Commission said that he put the case in the agenda of the commission.
He said that the commission is filing two lawsuits, one to the UN Secretary-General and another to the ICC, against the US violation of international.
He then referred to a parliament plan that obligated the government to protect Iranian nationals against any foreign threat, such as what was happened for Lieutenant General Soleimani.
The martyrdom of Lieutenant General Soleiani left a heavy emotional impact on the Iranian nation, he said, and people expressed their love and interest to the soldiers protect the national security jeopardizing their lives, Malekshahi stated.
He noted that the General's martyrdom had positive effects on the country including the increase of national unity, noting that people expect the Islamic Republic and its government to give a harsh response to the US assassination of Lieutenant General Soleimani.
The Commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed by the US air raid in Baghdad, Iraq's capital.
The US authorities announced that under Trump's order the US fighters targeted Baghdad international airport on Friday in order to assassinate Lieutenant General Soleimani and al-Muhandis.
