Iran Press/Asia: Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who arrived in Moscow on Sunday night at the head of a political delegation, held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in the Russian capital on Monday.

During the meeting, the top Iranian official referred to the close and strategic relations between Tehran and Moscow, saying: “In this sensitive situation, the relations between Iran and Russia are at the highest level.”

He voiced Iran’s determination to enhance and deepen the bilateral relations.

“Unlike the others who add to the insecurity and belligerence, Iran and Russia are looking to enhance the regional and international stability and security,” said Zarif, adding that both countries have taken similar and parallel regional actions in this regard.

Referring to Iran, Russia, and China’s joint naval exercise, the Iranian Foreign Minister described the event as an act of cooperation for peace and said: “The two countries (Iran and Russia) will continue cooperation at all levels.”

Lavrov, for his part, said: “We have common views about many regional and international issues, and the peaceful initiatives of the two countries confirm this.”
