16th session of the Kazakh-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic, scientific and technical and cultural cooperation ended after two days with signing an economic cooperation agreement by the ministers of agriculture of the two countries.

Iran Press/Asia: The economic agreement was signed by the Iranian Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati and the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Saparkhan Omarov on Saturday in the capital Nur-Sultan.

The agreement includes different topics such as the opening of branches of Iranian banks in Kazakhstan, easing the issuing of visas for nationals of both countries, investing in the mining sector, increasing the amount of trade between the two countries, overseas farming, animal husbandry, and aquaculture, medical exchanges, and cooperation in aviation, Iran Press reported.

The 16th session of the Kazakh-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic, scientific and technical and cultural cooperation kicked off on Wednesday with the participation of Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov and Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati as well as more than 40 representatives of Iran.

Meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister

Hojjati, who has travelled to Kazakhstan, also had a meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin on the second day of his trip and discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Mamin said being a neighbour of Iran, which has a long history and civilisation, is a great honour for the people and government of Kazakhstan, and it is necessary to take advantage of this geographical position.

Referring to the capacities of the two countries, Kazakh Prime Minister voiced his country’s readiness to increase the volume of trade.

“Kazakhstan is fully prepared to collaborate in mining, pharmaceuticals, transportation and increasing flights between the two countries,” he said.

Iranian Minister of Agriculture also emphasized the capacities and capabilities of both countries and expressed readiness to transfer Iran's expertise and experience to Kazakhstan. 101/211/214
