Iranian weightlifter, Reza Dehdar, snatches gold medal

Reza Dehdar, an Iranian weightlifter, has won the gold and bronze medals in the World Championships

Iran Press/Asia: Iran’s Reza Dehdar snatched a couple of medals in the men’s 102kg class at the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.

Reza Dehdar finished in sixth place with 175kg and another Iranian, Beiralvand was placed seventh with 170kg, Iran Press reported. 

On Wednesday, a tight contest in the men’s 102kg class saw Dehdar lift 219kg in his third attempt to claim the clean & jerk gold medal, and this brought the Iranian team a gold medal.

Dehdar also finished in third place with 394kg weightlifting in total, followed by representatives of Belarus and South Korea and won the bronze medal.

In the same move, Beiralvand initially lifted 206kg, but failed to contain both the 214kg and 216kg, and finished eighth with a record of 206kg. Beiralvand finished seventh with 376kg in total.

Dehdar’s medals took Iran’s tally to six. 101/211/219
