Tehran, Baku trade exchange highs

Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance said the trade exchange between Iran and Republic of Azerbaijan is set to increase more than ever before.

Iran Press/Asia: The trade volume between Iran and the Azerbaijan Republic has been doubled in the recent six-months, compared to the similar period in 2018, said Farhad Dezhpassand on Saturday after meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev.

The Iranian minister highlighted the common views on energy, banking, and costumes between the two countries and said that the commonalities would set in the form of a memorandum of understanding to be presented in a trilateral meeting of Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan in Sochi, Iran Press reported.

Mustafayev on his part also saw Tehran and Baku ties in high levels and based on trust, and noted that Iran is of the regions' important countries and that the expansion of ties between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan contribute to the stability and security of the region.

Noting that the number of Iranian active companies in the Republic of Azerbaijan reaches 1400, the Azerbaijani minister said that Tehran and Baku have adopted the necessary measures for collaboration in different areas.

He referred to the North-South corridor as an axis of cooperation between the two countries, saying: "The load carried through the corridor in the past year compared with the beginning of its function has grown eight-fold, and this year has seen a 63-percent increase compared to the previous year, 2018."   101/211/215
