Iran Press/Asia: On Thursday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami continued his attendance at the meeting of the Defense Ministers of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and met with the Minister of Defense of Madagascar, saying: "Madagascar and the countries of South Africa have a special place in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Brigadier General Hatami considered the situation of Iran and Madagascar in IOR and in Asia and Africa important, stressing: "We hope that the relations between the two countries will be strengthened in all areas, especially the military."
During the meeting, the Iranian defense minister also called for the cooperation of the coast guard and the government of Madagascar in solving the problem of Iranian fishermen who get caught by pirates in the waters around Madagascar.
