Islamabad (IP) - 40 days after Imam Hussain's (a) martyrdom in Ashura, Shia Muslims in Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan observed the traditional procession of Arbaeen.

Iran Press/Asia: Thousands of Shia pilgrims gathered at the Grand Mosque after the prayer, and the flags of Hazrat 'Abbas' (a) were raised at the beginning of the Arbaeen procession.

Expressing his views with Iran Press, former Deputy Mayor of Islamabad Syed Zeeshan Naqvi said, "As millions of people observe Arbaeen and mark the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain (a) and his companions in Karbala by pilgrimage Imam Hussain shrine, here we observe this tradition when the Imam Hussain's (a) family reached to the Levant by feet in the captivity of Yazid Army".

Mourners in different groups pay homage to Imam Hussain (a) and express their feelings in different languages.

Ali Mashhadi, who participated in the procession with his children, told Iran Press," We are here with thousands of people to participate in Arabaeen procession, to pay salute to Imam Hussain (a.s) and the martyrs of Karbala, as people gather in Karbala for a walk, we get together here".

Mohammad Raza, who participated in the procession, told Iran Press that the purpose of Arbaeen is to remind the sacrifice of the great-grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) when he sacrificed his family and companions to secure Islam, so all Muslims should remember the Karbala incident and always stand by truth".
