Afghanistan president arrives in Riyadh

Afghanistan's president leading a delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia to take an official visit.

Iran PressMiddle East: Mohammad Ashraf Ghani is scheduled to have a meeting with the Arab Country's King Salman bin Abdulaziz and a number of other Saudi officials.

Ashraf Ghani's trip to Saudi Arabia on Saturday followed the ninth round of US-Taliban peace talks in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, Urdu Point news website reported.

Such issues as the extension of war and massacring civilians, temporary government formation in Afghanistan, bilateral security ties, and signing of the US-Taliban potential peace agreement were announced as the most  important topics to be discussed in the meeting.

Ashraf Ghani's trip to Saudi Arabia took place as Afganistan is at the threshold of September 28, 2019, presidential election.

In case the Afghan president could not win the coming election, then it is his last visit to the Arab country.

Afghanistan's president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had done his first trip to Saudi Arabia after achieving  victory in the last presidential election of Afghanistan.

Since the Ashraf Ghani's taking office in 2014, Kabul-Riyadh ties went without tension, with the Afghan president hoping to benefit the Saudi regime's influence on Taliban to persuade the group to have peace talks with Afghanistan, yet the Saudi officials did not fulfil Ashraf Ghani's goal.
