US President Donald Trump

The US president, Donald Trump once again claimed that Iran is seeking talks with Washington.

Iran Press/America: Speaking to reporters in New Jersey on Sunday, Donald Trump considered imposed sanctions on Iran as an honourable action, claiming that: "Iranians cannot sell their oil, they are seriously in need of a deal. They just have not called. They are proud people and I know that."

Earlier on Thursday, President Trump at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire, had claimed that Iran is seeking an agreement with his government. The US President and senior administration officials, including the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, have repeatedly or implicitly called for talks with Iran in recent weeks or in their tweets.

However, the United States announced its withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and announced the return of nuclear sanctions on May 8, 2018; a move that has received widespread domestic and international condemnation.

In the meeting of officials of the Judiciary Branch, as well as the heads of Justice Departments from across the nation, with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on June 26, 2019, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution described calls for negotiations by the United States as a ruse or deception and said: "Negotiation is an effort to deceive Iran into doing what the US wants."

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described the main purpose of the US proposal to negotiate as disarming the nation and reducing Iran's authority. "Americans are now fearful of the Iranian people's authority, they are afraid to come forward, so they want to negotiate," the Leader added. 205/211/218
