The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) declared that despite the US sanctions, the domestic nuclear industry is improving powerfully.

Iran Press / Iran News:  The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi announced on Saturday that domestic nuclear industry is improving mightily despite the US sanctions; adding that “Nuclear negotiations are conducted in a way that whatever they do, all will end in favor of us;” Iran Press reported, quoting Mehr news agency.

Referring to the US Friday's announcements against Iranian nuclear industry, the official said that “their measures will not bear fruit and all will end in favor of Iran.”

Yesterday on May 4, US President Donald Trump administration imposed new limits on Iran's nuclear activities but stopped short of scrapping several waivers that allow Tehran to receive international assistance for the conversion of atomic sites for civilian uses.

Under the 2015 deal, which was negotiated under former US President Barack Obama and still enjoys strong support among European powers, Iran was limited to keeping 300 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 3.67 percent, far below the level needed to build nuclear weapons.

The US imposed sanctions on Iran's export of enriched uranium, saying "any involvement in transferring enriched uranium out of Iran in exchange for natural uranium will now be exposed to sanctions."

The move comes amid growing Iranian frustration with the nuclear deal, with which UN inspectors say Tehran is complying but which has not led to a promised economic boom, with the Trump administration instead imposing sweeping sanctions.

The waiver extension for Iran's nuclear cooperation comes as Trump recently ordered an end to six months of waivers, which allowed Iran’s eight biggest oil clients -- Turkey, China, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan -- to continue importing limited volumes.

On May 8, 2018, Trump announced that he would abandon the Iran nuclear deal dubbed JCPOA;  a move that was followed by the re-imposition of all nuclear-related sanctions that had been removed under the deal, as well as sanctions targeting Iran's banking and oil sectors. 104/ 212
