Iran's Vice President has said the United States has lost all hope of winning the economic war against Iran.

Iran PressIran news: "The Americans have been forced to retreat from the objectives of the maximum pressure campaign, step-by-step," Iran's First Vice-President, Eshaq Jahangiri said on Saturday at a ceremony to introduce the newly-appointed minister of education.

"First, they were seeking to isolate Iran and create enough pressure to instigate regime change, now they are forced to say the aim of applying maximum pressure is to bring the Islamic Republic to the negotiating table", he added.

According to an Iran Press report, Jahangiri said the US unilaterally pulled out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which was endorsed by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 and started an unequal economic war in May 2018, when it re-imposed the sanctions.

Back in 2018, after months of increasingly hostile rhetoric, the US government withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and imposed a maximum pressure campaign that included unilateral, economy-wide sanctions. 101/211
