Iranian President has said US sanctions against Iran target ordinary people, men and women, and even children, the elderly and patients in hospitals, and thus they are a crime against humanity.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani said that these cruel sanctions have targeted ordinary people in Iran and they should be rightly viewed as a form of economic terrorism. He added: "We must resist these sanctions, we must be resilient, and we have been up to now."

He pointedly added: "We will get through this difficult period and we will emerge triumphant, with unity and cohesion," Iran Press reported.

Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rouhani congratulated all those who work in the media on the occasion of 'Reporters Day and said journalists and reporters play a vital role in informing the public, reporting important news events. The president praised fast and accurate reporting of news by media outlets, saying they are doing a valuable and important job, and everyone needs access to information and news.

He added: "All journalists, reporters, and correspondents should have access to fast internet service and I have instructed the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Minister to  make sure that all journalists and media organizations have access to a fast internet service." 101/211
