Iran has unveiled a state-of-the-art missile defense system designed and manufactured by experts at home on the occasion of National Defense Industry Day.

Iran Press/Iran news: The surface-to-air missile system, dubbed Bavar-373, was unveiled during a ceremony on Thursday morning in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani, Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and other senior military officials.

Bavar-373 is a mobile missile defense system designed to intercept and destroy incoming hostile targets flying at altitudes of up to 65 kilometers. The system employs missiles that have a maximum range of 300 kilometers.

The long-range defense system is capable of detecting up to 100 targets simultaneously and engages six targets at a time.

The system is a competitor to Russia’s S-300 missile system and brings quite a few substantial upgrades over its Russian equivalent.

High-speed ??operation, ease of preparation and maintenance, minimal accessory equipment, high shelf life, and operator safety, compliance with world-class technology and the capability of replacement and supply of spare parts and more, are the significant features of Bavar-373 Air Defence System.

The operational capability of this system has been optimally enhanced by utilizing techniques and secure protocols between radars, targets, and missiles, as well as the use of a state-of-the-art radio detector.

The system can simultaneously detect 300 targets, track 60 targets, and engage with 6 targets at the same time.
