Tehran (IP) - Iran's Parliament spokesman for National Security and Foreign Policy Commission says the US recent round of sanctions against Iran are strange.

Iran Press/Iran news: In the sidelines of Monday's opening session of parliament, Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini the said the US along with its extreme pressures sanctioned those Iranian officials who were in the US blacklist before.

He said the US sanctioned the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei who has no economic activity or involvement, no assets, and no business relations.

The strangest section of the US new sanctions is that the US releases its new blacklist and then announces that it will add the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to the blacklist, Naghavi Hosseini noted.

Naghavi added the US' recent manner of sanctioning raises out of its confusion and awkwardness and something that originates from their failures in pressuring Iran, pointing out to Iran's downing the US intruder drone "RQ4" which violated Iran's borders.

The MP also referred to the UK's seizure of the Iranian oil tanker in Gibraltar Strait, which is in contradiction with its claim to try to keep the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He said that there are maritime documentaries available to show that Iran does not breach any international laws and that UK is not allowed to seize this tanker based on the JCPOA agreement.

London claims that the tanker had been carrying Iranian oil to Syria, which is under European Union’s sanctions but Iran says first, the tanker was not headed to Syria, and second, Iran is not an EU member and also not subject to any European oil embargo.

He stressed the UK must commit to the international nuclear deal, remarking that the EU and UK have a delay on their commitments to the deal and even to INSTEX.
