Today marks the auspicious birthday anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Ma'soumeh (peace be upon her), the daughter of Imam Musa Kazem (peace be upon him) and the sister of Imam Reza (peace be upon him), and it has also been designated as National Girls’ Day in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran press/Iran news: National Girls’ Day has been established in order to emphasise the role of women and girls in every aspect of society, even in urban planning, and so Iranian women can become more familiarised with the unique personality of Hazrat Fatemeh Masoumeh (peace be upon her).

According to an Iran Press report, Iranian women have always played a major role during all the different stages of the Islamic revolution, both in the past and at present time.

Earlier on 23 January 2019, current Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, Masoumeh Ebtekar said in an exclusive interview with Iran Press that Iranian women have always played a major role during all the different stages of the Islamic revolution in the past and at present time. The vice president for women's affairs stressed that the Islamic Revolution has created 'favourable conditions' for women's advancement in the different areas, especially in the field of education.

According to Ebtekar, this includes improvement to literacy rates, and more women participating in elementary as well as higher education. Masoumeh Ebtekar mentioned the fact that today women even outnumber men in the higher education sector, a trend which she called "a true change in terms of women's role and advancement of women."

Ebtekar also mentioned women's success in sporting arenas as being noteworthy.
