The Secretary General of D-8 Group met with Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the D-8 International University.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a meeting with Mansur Gholami on Tuesday, Dato 'Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, emphasized on the necessity and importance of establishing the international university of the group in all member countries.

Gholami, for his part, announced Iran's full support for the establishment of the University in all member countries, Iran Press reported.

The meeting of the Board of Trustees of the D-8 International University will be held from 29 to 30 April, 2019 in Tehran, Iran.

Based on the decision of the D-8 Summit, the university was officially inaugurated in Hamedan either at the start of the new scholastic year, or during the second term.

The D-8 international university will be set up on Avicenna University campus as the founding university, with the aim of strengthening academic exchanges between the universities of member countries and other countries.

Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology of Iran has said: “The General Director of the D-8 Group will arrive in Tehran tomorrow to discuss plans to set up an international university for this group in Iran with the Minister of Science, Research and Technology.”

The D-8 Group, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Turkey, is a regional organization for economic cooperation, to strengthen the influence of these countries on global markets and establish dialogue with industrialized countries.

The main goals of the group are scientific, economic, and social development, strengthening the position of developing countries in the global economy, creating new opportunities in business relations, strengthening their presence in international decision-making, and improving the quality of life and standard of living of the population of D-8 countries.  101/211/213
