Tehran (IP) - The Chancellor of Tehran University has stressed that the future of the world of Islam depends critically on science and technology, adding that the more we invest in science and technology, the brighter our future will be.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a keynote speech to guests and attendees at the "Future of Islamic World in the Horizon of 2035" conference, the Chancellor of Tehran University, Mahmoud Nili-Ahmadabadi, emphasised that some Islamic countries, such as Iran, Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have invested very well in science and technology, but they have failed to apply this science to solve society's problems.

The Chancellor of Tehran University pointedly added: "We have been very successful in developing and creating new science and technology, but we have been less successful in using science and technology to solve social problems and society's problems.

According to an Iran Press report, turning to future studies and future research, Nili Ahmadabadi said: "This is a relatively new subject and many universities are now conducting serious research in this area.  Many nations, of course, want to have a clear picture of their future."

In further comments the Chancellor of Tehran University added: "The century we live in, is the century of cooperation, on an international scale, and through cooperation and collaboration we can raise our living standards and develop our country further. Islamic countries are well aware of this fact and are trying to expand their cooperation. The OIC, Organization of Islamic Cooperation being a case in point."
