Tehran (IP) - The acting head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) has said Iran is focusing on target markets in the neighbouring countries for future export of goods.

Iran Press/Iran News: The acting head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Mohammadreza Modoudi, said on Sunday that the target markets for Iran's exports have shown a change in orienting towards neighbouring countries.

Addressing journalists at a press conference, the head of TPO said Iran's exported goods in 2018 were composed of more than 4400 items, an increase of 1000 items compared to previous years.

According to an Iran Press report, Modoudi explained that some of the goods have been removed from the export lists while others have been added to it which in fact is due to changing demand in the target market. Modoudi said changing needs and changing demand for various goods has altered our exports to various nations.

The top export official added: "We are doing our best to reduce the country's dependence on petrodollars by boosting non-oil exports."

Role of International Exhibitions: 

The head of TPO stressed the role of the international exhibitions in the development of Iran's exports and trade, saying these international events play a key role in introducing Iranian brands to many countries so that it can invite more companies to come to Iran so that export markets will be further developed. Referring to Iran's furniture industry as having a very high capacity for export and development, Modoudi also announced that at the moment a very big exhibition is underway in Iraqi city of Arbil.

Iranian manufacturers are taking part in the event in Arbil. Modoudi went on to conclude that the perspective for furniture in 2019 is very bright. He also said that some newly established startups have been planned for developing brands. There will be also the centre for innovative ideas on decoration and furniture." 213/211/203
