Thousands of people in Bangladesh took to the streets to protest against Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Why it matters:

The protests against Israeli war crimes is getting widespread from the U.S. universities to Europe and now spilling over to southwest Asia. The anti-Israeli demonstrations occurred in the capital, Dhaka, and in cities like Sylhet, Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, and Comilla. Protesters expressed their anger by chanting slogans against U.S. President Donald Trump for supporting Israel.

Key points:

  • The protests led to violence.
  • Israeli-linked complexes and stores were damaged.
