IP - An Italian politician called the country's government to stop selling weapons to the Zionist regime for the genocide of Palestinians.

Iran PressEurope: Left-wing opposition Democratic Party leader Elly Schlein has called on the Rome administration to stop providing weapons to Israel, saying the country cannot risk its munitions to be used in ways that could constitute "war crimes."

"We must face the issue of avoiding fueling these conflicts, of avoiding sending and exporting arms to conflicts, to the conflict in the Middle East, in this case, particularly to Israel,” left-wing opposition Democratic Party leader Elly Schlein was quoted by the state-run ANSA news agency as saying at a meeting of the party’s lawmakers in the northern town of Gubbio.

"Because we cannot risk weapons being used to commit what could be considered war crimes," she warned the Italian government.

Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7, killing at least 24,927 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring more than 62,300 others, according to local health authorities.

Israel had announced its goal from the beginning of the operation to destroy Hamas and then release the Israeli captives in Gaza, but after more than three months, not only has this goal not been achieved, but Israel's insistence on these two goals has caused differences in that society.

Experts believe that Israel is now in a dilemma and must choose between destroying Hamas or freeing the captives. While Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Zionist regime, is under pressure from the families of the captives, experts believe that the destruction of Hamas is a far-fetched goal.
