In a telephone conversation, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the head of the European Union's foreign policy exchanged views on Iran-EU ties and regional issues.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a telephone conversation with the European Union's top diplomat, Joseph Borrell, welcomed the continuation of the dialogue between the two sides to promote mutual cooperation.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, recalling the efforts made and the positive steps taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the diplomacy of lifting sanctions, noted the excessiveness of some of the other parties in the negotiations and added: "The cooperation between the Agency and Iran is on a good track and we welcome the visit of "Rafael Grossi" Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to Iran."

Amir-Abdollahian, noting the constructive role of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in ensuring security in the region as well as fighting terrorism, called on the European Union to respect the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the framework of international law.

In the end, while emphasizing the need to end the genocide and crimes of the Israeli regime in the war against Gaza as soon as possible, Amir-Abdollahian called for serious regional and international action to take into account the demands and hopes of the Palestinian right.

Speaking about Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel on April 13, the foreign minister stressed that Tehran's response to Tel Aviv was based on its legitimate right to self-defense.

Josep Borrell, for his part, stressed that the European Union does not want tension with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He welcomed the continuation of diplomatic consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the European Union.

Welcoming Iran's positive role in reducing tensions and restoring peace and stability to the region, the EU foreign policy chief called for reaching an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. 219
