US media reported Monday night that the death toll from the Coronavirus has risen to 23,640.

Iran Press/America: The US media also reported that the number of people currently infected with coronavirus across the United States reached 586,941.

The United States now ranks first among the world's countries both in terms of the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths from the virus.

The US government, which has been conducting coronavirus diagnostic tests much later than other countries, is currently facing a shortage of diagnostic kits and medical equipment due to a large number of patients.

Meanwhile, US highest reported number of coronavirus deaths in the world has created a major problem in burying bodies in various cities in the country, prompting US officials to build mass graves.

The White House has previously touted estimates that 2.2 million Americans could die from coronavirus if nothing was done to stop its spread.

Public health experts have warned that the US death toll could spike to 200,000 over the summer if unprecedented stay-at-home orders that have closed businesses and kept most Americans indoors are lifted after 30 days.

Following the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the United States, for the first time in US history, all 50 states are in a state of emergency.

COVID-19 has infected more than 2,000,000 people around the world and killed at least 119,000 people, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
