Iran Press/West Asia: Larijani, who arrived in Lebanon on Friday, held meetings with Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri. At a subsequent press conference, Larijani emphasized that Iran sees it as a duty to support the Lebanese people and their leadership.
Larijani stated, "In these difficult times, particularly with the Israeli regime's actions against Lebanon, we consider it our responsibility to stand by the Lebanese people and support their demands."
He also expressed hope for an improvement in Lebanon’s situation, wishing for the return of those displaced from southern Lebanon to their homes.
Following the crushing defeat of Israel in the October 7th, 2023 Al-Aqsa Storm operation, which was launched in response to over seven decades of Palestinian occupation, Israel has waged a brutal war against the besieged people of Gaza and southern Lebanon. The conflict has resulted in the martyrdom of nearly 47,000 people, with many others left displaced.
