The news source confirmed the death of one of the main leaders of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group in the Arabian Peninsula.

Iran Press/ West Asia: The death of one of the main leaders of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Khaled Batrafi, was confirmed. Sources related to al-Qaeda have said that after Baltarfi's death, a person named "Saad bin Atif al-Awlaki" will be the new head of the al-Qaeda terrorist group.

The monitoring service said Batarfi's body was shown in footage released by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in a burial shroud and wrapped in a flag bearing the jihadist group's name.

In early 2020, Khalid Batrafi was introduced as the leader of the Yemeni al-Qaeda group after the killing of Qassem al-Rimi in Yemen.

Batrafi was also among the prisoners who escaped from prison in 2015 along with 150 other members of Al-Qaeda in Yemen following the attack of this group on the port city of Makla.

The cause of the death of the former leader of Al-Qaeda in Yemen has not been announced. 219
