Gaza (IP) – The New York Times reported on Tuesday that approximately 60% of buildings in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed as a result of a year-long genocidal Israeli war on Gaza.

Iran Press/ West Asia: The American newspaper highlighted that while Israel claims its military objectives focus on eradicating Hamas, the result has been the decimation of vast areas home to nearly two million Palestinians. Israeli airstrikes have leveled entire neighborhoods, leaving tens of thousands without shelter or access to basic services.

One year since the beginning of the conflict, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced staggering casualty figures: 41,909 Palestinians have lost their lives, with women and children making up 60% of the fatalities. Additionally, over 97,000 Palestinians have been injured, overwhelming Gaza's already struggling healthcare system.

Hospitals and schools, where many displaced civilians have sought refuge, have not been spared. These civilian structures have been repeatedly targeted, deepening the humanitarian crisis and further restricting access to essential services such as medical care and education.

Supported militarily and diplomatically by the United States, Israel launched its latest offensive against Gaza on October 7, 2023, in response to the Al-Aqsa Flood operation by Hamas. The campaign has caused widespread destruction, compounding the devastation in an area already reeling from years of blockades, military assaults, and internal hardship.

The United Nations and numerous international organizations have called for immediate ceasefires and humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of Gaza's population, but diplomatic solutions remain elusive as the conflict drags on.
