Iran Press/Iran news: The 42nd edition of Iran's Fajr International Fime Festival (FIFF) officially kicked off in Tehran on Wednesday evening.

The opening ceremony was held at the Vahdat Hall of the Iranian capital on Wednesday for the first time in four years.

In this year's festival, 33 films have been selected for screening in major theater halls for ten days starting from Friday.

Mojtaba Amini, Secretary of FIFF 2024 said that the cinema of Iran is flourishing now, which curiously seeks to present the demands of the Iranian nation but never misrepresent the country.

He talked about a passionate celebration ahead in the next 10 days which will host its guests with films of different genres such as comedy, family, and Sacred Defense of Iran.

Amini said that more than 70 countries would accompany the international event through their works.

Expressing hope for a prosperous cinema event, Amini said that the people's enthusiasm during the past year, since the last festival, has made it essential to focus on the popular cinema and the cinema of family.

The cinema veterans then were honored on stage.
