Tehran (IP) - After commemorating the veterans of the Iranian cinema, two short films, and a long documentary received awards.

Iran Press/Iran news:  The 42nd edition of Iran's Fajr International Fime Festival (FIFF 2024) officially kicked off in Tehran on Wednesday evening.

After presenting a speech by Mojtaba Amini, Secretary of the 42nd edition of FIFF 2024, the cinema veterans were honored on stage.

Awards also were given to the winners of short films and long documentaries in the continuation of the opening ceremony of the 42nd FIFF. 

UFO, directed by Hamid Hosseini and Mahdi Hosseini, was the best short film that received the diploma of honor; also, Crystal Simorgh went to Sharif (honored) directed by Mohammad Alizadehfard.  

After a piece performed in sympathy with the Palestinian people, awards went to long documentaries; the Diploma of Honor went to The Last Shark Whale, directed by Ramtin Balef. Strong Hearted, directed by Ali Farahani Sadr, received the Statue.
