The third Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference is underway in Tehran from April 27 to 29 and in Isfahan from 29 to 30 April. The conference focuses on four main areas: "Oil, Gas, Petrochemicals", "Mining and Mineral Industries", "Agriculture", and "Energy".

Why it matters:

The third Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference is ongoing at the same time with Iran Expo 2025 exhibition. The conference is an opportunity for the guests from Africa to become familiar with Iran's exports' capacities which leads to developing cooperation.

The big picture:

Africa, with its growing population and rich resources, is a huge market for goods. Given the significant increase in the volume of trade exchanges with Africa, Iranian businessmen currently require careful planning and targeted investment to have a strong presence in this market.

Key points:

  • The trade between Iran and African countries has grown by 10.5% in weight and 39% in value since 2022.
  • Iran has imported most of its products to Tanzania, Kenya, and South Africa.
  • Iran and Africa expect 10 billion dollars in exports exchange by 2025.
  • Technological and knowledge-based products will be the most important areas of cooperation between Iran and Africa.
  • Iran and Africa plan to increase the number of their trade centers from 13 to 20.
