Mashhad (IP) - The 28th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) began in Mashhad on Tuesday, with the presence of the Iranian Foreign Minister and his counterparts in the member countries.

The final session of the second day of this summit will be attended by our country's Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the ECO Secretary General, and the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan.

A pilgrimage to the holy Razavi shrine, a visit to the tomb of Hakim Abolghasem Ferdowsi, and an exhibition of high-tech and knowledge-based products of Khorasan Razavi at the accomadation of foreign ministers and delegations were among the sidelines of the 28th meeting of ECO foreign ministers.

The ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental organization founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye. The bloc provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade and investment opportunities.

Established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye, the ECO is a regional intergovernmental organization aimed at fostering economic and cultural cooperation among member states.

In 1992, its membership expanded to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, bringing the total to 10 member countries.
