(IP)- An Iranian taekwondo athlete in the -63 kg weight class won a silver medal at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou after losing to a Thai representative.

Iran PressAsia: Alireza Hosseinpour defeated Mohammed Bassam Raihan from Indonesia 2-0 in the first match.

He defeated Pakistan’s Muhammad Arbaz Khan 2-0 in the next round.

Hosseinpour defeated Gibeom Lee of South Korea 2-0 and Jordan’s Zaid Alhalawani 2-0 en route to the final.

The Iranian athlete lost to Thailand’s Banlung Tubtimdang 2-0 in the final in Hangzhou and won the silver medal.

The 2023 Asian Games is underway in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.
