Iran Press/ Middle East: "We thank God that Yemeni air defenses have been able to shoot down a Saudi Apache helicopter with a new surface-to-air missile, which we will reveal later,” the Yemeni Army Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said in a brief statement on Friday morning.
He explained that the helicopter was shot down this morning in the Majaza area across from Asir province while carrying out hostile actions. “It was completely burned and the crew of two Saudis was killed,” Saree added, according to Almasirah Media Network.
The Yemeni army's "Military Media Documentation Unit" has captured the moment the helicopter was shot down on video.
"Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that approaching the airspace of Yemen is prohibited and will not be a place for a picnic for anyone and that it will address all attempts by the enemies until full protection of Yemeni airspace is assured,” he added.
The shootings come three months after the Yemeni Armed Forces unveiled two types of air defense systems, Fater1 and Thaqib1.
