Team of Chinese specialist doctors arrives in Tehran

Tehran (IP) - The Chinese ambassador to Tehran has announced the arrival of a team of Chinese medical experts with a new cargo of aid to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Iran PressIran newsYesterday, the first shipment of Chinese aid to Iran to combat the spread of the Coronavirus arrived in Tehran.

Chang Hua wrote in his Twitter account: "The Chinese medical team arrived in Tehran with the new Chinese medical aid cargo," Iran Press reported.

Last week, the Chinese embassy in Tehran announced the delivery of 5,000 new Coronavirus detection kits and 250,000 masks to Iran.

Also on Friday evening, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced in a phone call to Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that China would strongly support  Iran in the fight against the Coronavirus.

The Chinese Foreign Minister said that when the Coronavirus spread in the country, Iran was the first country to express its sympathy, and through its actions, demonstrated the true meaning of friendship and strong solidarity between the two nations, adding, China will never forget Iran's assistance.

The outbreak of coronavirus - known as COVID-19 - in Iran was first detected on 19 February, when health authorities in Qom confirmed the death of two elderly people as a result of the first incidence of the disease in Iran.

The Coronavirus was diagnosed for the first time in Wuhan city, in China in the late 2019, and currently, apart from the country's 30 provinces, the virus has spread to at least 50 countries including US, Britain, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Canada, France, Iran, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirate.

According to the latest reports, at least 83 thousand people have been affected by the Coronavirus in the world, of which about 36 thousand have recovered and about 2800 others have died.
