The Committee on Breaking the Siege on Yemen called on the free world to support the popular media campaign to lift the general siege on Yemen and Sanaa International Airport in particular which started on Saturday.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Committee stressed in a statement, on the importance of interaction and participation in the campaign of humanitarian information through all social media sites.

The statement pointed out that the popular media campaign aims to convey accurate information about the plight and suffering of the Yemeni people to the world as a result of the embargo imposed on Sana'a International Airport and its continued closure to civilian flights, Saba Net reported.

The Committee said that we seek through the popular campaign to save the lives of patients, to deliver much-needed medication to Yemen, and to return the displaced to their homeland.

The Committee also called for active participation in the campaign of Twitter, which will start at 8 pm Saturday, January 5, 2019 via Hashtag: #EndYemenSiege.

A three-year shutdown of Sanaa international airport by the Saudi-led coalition has resulted in a major impact in increasing the death toll during the war because critical conditions cannot be treated in the impoverished state due to the lack of advanced doctors and medical equipment.

The United Nations humanitarian chief said the war on Yemen has left as many as 8.4 million people in the Arab world’s poorest nation in need of urgent food aid.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and several other countries, has engaged in military aggression against Yemen, enforcing a cruel total land, sea and air blockade which has gone on for many years. 

Saudi airstrikes on Yemen have been going on since March 2015. The war initiated by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has killed more than 16,000 Yemenis, injured tens of thousands of others, and displaced millions. 101/ 211 / 202
