European Parliament voted on approval of allocation of international day of ISIL and Al-Qaeda victim s,says Iraqi foreign ministry .

Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that the European Parliament voted on the resolution containing the approval of the proposal of the Iraqi Embassy in the European Union to allocate a global day of every year as a memorial to perpetuate the victims  of  Daesh and al - Qaeda   in the world.

According to the Foreign Affairs, the decisions included several axes in the fields of political dialogue, sectoral cooperation and institutional relations. The themes included several paragraphs that promote and develop relations between the European Union and the Republic of Iraq. The resolution calls for assistance to strengthen the political system, democracy and the rule of law and cooperation in many fields Supports stability and development in Iraq.

The statement added that while the resolution represented an important political message to the world on the strong relations between the Republic of Iraq and the European Union, the European Parliament urged the Member States to move forward in the fight against terrorism and coordinate the efforts and actions that fall within this framework.

 

Ahmed Mahgoub, the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  had previously said in a statement that “the European Parliament has okayed during a general session held on June 20, 2018 a proposal presented by the Iraqi Embassy to designate an international day to honor the victims who lost their lives in terrorist attacks launched by the Islamic State group.”

The European legislative body was about to  “vote on the proposal during a session scheduled to be held in Strasbourg, France, on July 2-6,” Mahgoub had  added.

Mahgoub added that the Iraqi embassy will coordinate with the “European Parliament to choose the appropriate day for the commemoration of the victims of intimidation in Iraq and the world.”

Iraq declared the collapse of ISIL's  territorial influence earlier in November with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.
