A member of parliament and head of the social welfare commission has said those who receive a pension, civil servants and government workers should all see their income increase by at least 20 percent next year.

Iran Press/Iran news: MP for Sardasht and head of the social welfare  commission of the parliament, Rasoul Khezri in an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency on Wednesday said parliamentarians have been discussing a raise in pension payments and salaries to government workers and civil servants for next year. Khezri said the subject was discussed in detail in parliamentary sessions on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

The MP for Sardasht added: "In order to discuss and study in detail next year's budget, as well as discuss an increase to the salaries of civil servants and government employees for next year, an urgent extraordinary meeting of government and Majlis has been organized." 

Rasoul Khezri went on to say: "We hope to reach an agreement by this evening to raise pensioners and employees' payments by at least 20 percent. The parliament has proposed an increase of at least five hundred thousand Toumans for salaries and wages of government employees, with a maximum ceiling of one million Toumans."

He added: "Thus we have proposed a minimum and maximum increase of 500,000 and 1,000,000 Toumans for government employee salaries." 101/211
