Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with new ambassador of Sierra Leone in Tehran, has said developing close and friendly relations with African countries, especially Sierra Leone, as the gateway to Africa is important for Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday met the new ambassador of Sierra Leone in Tehran Ali Badara Kamara, received his credentials and said Iran and Sierra Leone could develop their relations and cooperation in various sectors.

President Rouhani voiced the readiness of the private and public sectors in Iran to expand cooperation and provide products and services to Sierra Leone.

"We are ready to develop scientific and cultural cooperation with Sierra Leone. In this regard, Iranian universities are ready," Rouhani said.

President Rouhani also emphasized the need for the development of Tehran-Freetown partnerships in various fields, including healthcare, medicine and agriculture, and the cultivation of crops and cooperation in international fora to resolve issues and problems in various areas.

The new ambassador to Sierra Leone, whilst presenting his credentials to President Rouhani, reiterated strong and historic relations between the two countries.

He appreciated Iran's support for Sierra Leone, and called for development and strengthening of relations and cooperation in various fields of science and technology, university research, and healthcare with Iran.

President Rouhani on Saturday received credentials of eight new ambassadors of Venezuela, Turkey, Sierra Leone, Tunisia, Mali, Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Croatia.
