Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met and conferred with Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister, Wafa Hajjive in Tehran on Sunday.

Iran Press /Iran news: Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Wafa Hajjive in Tehran on Sunday.

Zarif said Iran attaches great importance to expansion of its relations with Turkmenistan and believes relations between the two countries are very close. 

According to an Iran Press report, Zarif added: "Iran always calls for expansion of relations and cooperation with Turkmenistan in various fields and hopes to take advantage of all our capabilities in broadening such cooperation and friendly relations." 

Referring to an agreement signed between the two sides on the Caspian Sea legal regime, he said Iran is ready to implement jointly-run projects in the Caspian Sea. 

No problem should leave an impact on amicable ties between the two countries, he said, expressing the hope to witness the formation of Iran-Turkmenistan joint economic commission in the near future.

Turkmen deputy foreign minister, for his part, underlined the importance of relations between the two countries.

Turkmenistan will do its utmost to remove the existing hurdles to help broaden and deepen relations and cooperation between the two countries, he said. 

 

Furthermore, on the same day, Iran's Foreign minister also met Cooperation and Emigration of the National Popular Assembly (the lower Chamber of the Algerian Parliament) of Algeria, Abdelhamid Si Afif in Tehran.  Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed hope that economic relations between Tehran and Algiers would improve through both sides’ efforts.

Zarif hailed Algiers’ stances on different issues including the Iran nuclear program.

“By pursuing right policies, Algeria has logical and principled stances on various issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and fight against extremism,” Zarif said. 

The top diplomat stressed Iran’s readiness for expansion of cooperation in different fields between the two countries.

The Algerian official said that his country has been pursuing an independent policy, stressing that other countries’ propaganda will not affect Algeria’s policy on relations with Iran.104
