Seyyed Zia Hashemi, former acting Minister of Science, and the current managing-director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), has emphasized that major news agencies and media outlets have taken part in the OANA media gathering in Tehran, with virtually all participants being keen to counter America's domination of mainstream media.

Iran Press/ Iran: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Monday, Seyyed Zia Hashemi , the current managing-director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), said foreign news agencies and media outlets, particularly in Asia-Pacific region, are very keen to cooperate with Iran on media matters. Hashemi emphasized that in his personal meetings and conversations with over 60 top executives and heads of news agencies and media organizations in Asia-Pacific region, virtually all of them were keen to cooperate with Iran on media matters, and all of them said they valued impartial, unbiased news from Iran -- something which Western media either never, or very rarely, provide.

The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) is an association of news agencies from UNESCO member states in the Asia-Pacific region. OANA held its annual meeting in Tehran on Monday 3 September 2018.

Commenting on the meeting, Seyyed Zia Hashemi said the attendance surpassed our expectations, and some top Asia-Pacific media outlets and news organizations attended the Tehran meeting.
