The largest ever exhibition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs ) opened up in Tehran on Sunday, with a key speech delivered by the speaker of parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani.

According to an Iran Press report,  the three-day exhibition which opened up on Sunday, will run until Tuesday 14 August 2018.

In his speech at the largest exhibition of Iran's industrial capabilities, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises, Ali Larijani referred to SMEs as the propeller or driving engine of Iran's industry and economy, saying the role SMEs play is vital for the economy. He added:  "The Majlis (parliament) will do everything it can to support industrial companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs )."

In further remarks, Larijani said proposals made by the minister for industry, mine and trade should be taken seriously and pursued further. Larijani added:  "In the Majlis, we are prepared to study these proposals and turn them into permanent legislation, or alternatively, discuss these proposals at the meeting of the heads of the three branches of the government."
