The foreign ministry spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, has dismissed claims that following re-imposition of US sanctions on Iran, Germany has seized a portion of Iran's frozen foreign exchange assets.

Ghasemi  went on to emphasize that spreading of such rumours is a form of  psychological warfare aimed at  disrupting relations between Iran and the EU.

Bahram Ghasemi stressed that Iran and Germany’s economic relations are progressing at a normal pace, adding “the German delegation at Vienna’s [Joint Commission’s meeting on Friday] discussed ways to find more proper mechanisms to increase economic cooperation and banking relations between Tehran and Berlin".

Ghasemi then voiced regret over the circulation of rumours in the past few weeks concurrent with the start of negotiations between Iran and the five remaining parties to the JCPOA, saying the rumours were an act of propaganda and psychological warfare aimed at undermining Iran’s relations with European countries.  Ghasemi said such rumours are spread by hostile non-regional countries  and anti-Iran hostile groups.

The Iranian diplomat, while dismissing as completely untrue the claim of German seizure of Iran's foreign exchange assets, urged vigilance and perceptiveness to counter such acts of propaganda, when Iran and EU are seeking ways to expand their economic cooperation.
