The Office of the Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, confirmed Friday as the First Day of the lunar month of Shawwal and subsequently Eid al-Fitr, after sighting of the crescent following completion of full 30 days of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

Office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei has communicated a statement announcing that Eid al-Fitr prayers will be held by leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei at 8 am in the morning in Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran.

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has either pardoned or commuted the sentences of 537 of those who had been convicted in various courts of law of the Islamic Republic.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has forwarded messages to leaders of Muslim countries on the advent of Eid al-Fitr, a religious holiday concluding the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

In separate messages addressed to leaders of Muslim countries, President Hassan Rouhani voiced confidence that the social teachings of the coming Eid al-Fitr will help Muslims across the world to become more united than ever in the fight against violence and extremism.
