The supporters of Yellow Vest movement in France criticized the country's government for oppressing the movement's supporters.

Iran Press/Europe: After severe oppression of supporters of Yellow Vest movement by police forces in France, the supporters criticized the country's government for not listening to people's voice and condemning the force used by police against protesters.

"The government is waging a media war against the Yellow Vests movement, and French officials are trying to portray us as members of the extreme right, as anti-Semites, or as rioters," A French woman said in an interview with Press TV according to Iran Press.

"This is because they don’t want to tell the truth that the Yellow Vests are people who work hard but still can’t pay their bills at the end of the month because of austerity policies," She added.

"The government doesn’t want to admit that there is a major democratic deficit, and that the French elite wants the majority of France to remain silent. The Yellow Vests movement must be allowed to speak," The French woman noted.

According to the latest poll, 85 percent of French people said that French President Emmanuel Macron should divert his attention toward French people's concerns and also 80 percent of French people think French President should change the way he communicates with people.

“The Yellow Vests movement simply must continue. The movement is an obstacle for Macron, who wants to impose neoliberal economic policies, to privatize state assets and to give tax cuts to the rich", An old French man said.

Another French woman said: “The Yellow Vests movement are upsetting things in France because they keep asking for the same things. They are asking for an increase in their standard of living, for fiscal justice, for social justice, for environmental justice and therefore nobody wants to hear them because that would bring many political forces in our country to a complete stop."

Also, an Arab woman who supports the Yellow Vests movement said: “French officials must understand that our demands are social. We want that people can be treated decently at their work and that they have a decent salary which allows them to pay their bills at the end of each month. France is a rich country! But the riches are held in just a few hands, and they refuse to redistribute the wealth that we created. We are the producers of wealth, so we must get this money so that we can live decently."

The protests began in mid-November over fuel taxes. They have since broadened into a revolt against President Macron, and a political class seen as out of touch with common people. 101/201
