Iranian ambassador in Dublin meets Chairman of Irish Parliament to boost ties

Iranian Ambassador to Ireland, Masoud Eslami met Chairman of Irish Parliament Sean o Fearghail in Dublin to confer ways of expanding mutual relations on Thursday.

Iran Press/Europe: Chairman of Irish Parliament Sean o Fearghail welcomes welcome Ireland and Islamic Republic of Iran expansion of relations and cooperation in the various fields.

Masoud Eslami and Chairman of Irish Parliament conferred on ways to develop bilateral cooperation, Iran Press reported.

The Irish parliament speaker noted the amicable ties between the two countries and the frequent exchange of parliamentary delegations, highlighting the existence of ample opportunities for boosting the volume of trade transactions between the two sides’ economic sectors.

The Iranian ambassador, thanked the Irish parliament for its support to maintain friendly ties with the Iranian side, saying “parliamentary relations between the two countries are expanding and by providing the necessary conditions, we can take notable measures for the development of political, economic, commercial and cultural cooperation.”

Investment and economic opportunities are abundant in Iran, especially in the country’s free trade zones, Eslami said, voicing Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Ireland in various sectors of technology, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

An invitation for an official visit to Iran was also extended to the Irish parliament chair during the Thursday meeting.

"I had an interesting exchange of views with a delegation from the Iranian Parliament, composed of four parliamentary members of the Ireland-Iran Friendship Group, led by its chair, Mostafa Kavakebian. The group was accompanied by the Iranian Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency Masoud Eslami. We discussed potential for more parliamentary engagement to learn of each other’s concerns and challenges, as well as geo-political tensions in the region," Chairman of Irish Parliament wrote in his Facebook account.
