Three people, including a police officer, have been injured in a stabbing incident at a tram stop in Manchester, England on New Year’s Eve.

Iran Press/ Europe: The tram stop in Manchester, England is closed for a police investigation and the suspect has been arrested.

British Transport Police of Greater Manchester confirmed only that a male suspect is under arrest, RT reported.

The perpetrator is in custody on “suspicions of attempted murder,” police said.

The investigation, however, would be led by the counter-terrorism division, since the motive of the suspect is still not clear.

“While we don’t yet know the full circumstances and are keeping an open mind, officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West are leading on the investigation,” Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts said.
