Mohammad Javad Zarif (L) and Mohammad Ali al-Hakim (R)

Foreign Ministers of Iran and Iraq reviewed the latest regional developments in a telephone conversation on Thursday.

Iran Press/Middle East: Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Ali al-Hakim talked over the phone to confer on developments in the region.

According to Iran Foreign Ministry's press office, the two sides discussed last Saturday’s attack on Saudi Arabia's oil fields and refineries.

The Zionist regime election results was also among the major regional issues which Zarif and al-Hakim reviewed on the phone.

Based on the latest results of the elections, Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party has failed to secure a parliamentary majority, and the election ended with no clear winner.

Netanyahu has called on his main rival, the former general Benny Gantz, to join him in a broad, governing coalition. The change of strategy reflects the weakened position of Netanyahu.
