Hama University of Syria has made a suggestion to publish joint articles and exchange students with Tehran's Amirkabir University of Technology, formerly known as Tehran Polytechnic, according to Amir Golru, the head of international cooperation department of Amirkabir University of Technology.

Iran Press- Middle East/ 'Hama University is a private institution with 100 faculty members and about 17,500 students,' said Amir Golru on Tuesday.

The two universities have the opportunity to work in medical engineering and computer engineering, IRNA reported.

Referring to the interest shown by the Syrian university to cooperate in distance education, Amir Golru said.

Publishing joint articles and admitting Syrian students into Amirkabir University will be part of the collaboration. Amirkabir University of Technology is one of the top universities in Tehran, with an excellent reputation particularly in engineering and the sciences.

Admission to the university is highly competitive, which requires scoring among the top 1% of students in the Nationwide University Entrance Exams with more than 1.5 million students taking part.

Recently, Iranian universities have set up various cooperation programs with their foreign counterparts.
